Toothpaste for headlights?

I recently bought my first car...(1996 Honda Accord) and I really love it! However, the one thing that I didn't love was the headlights. They were covered with a yellowish brownish coat that I really wanted to get rid of. Since I bought my first car, I was willing to pay for added details...such as a product, Fast brite, that I'm sure most of us are familiar with. If not, fast brite is a headlight lens restorer kit, promising to deeply clean your headlights. When I first saw the infomercial ( and by the way, I kinda have a thing for infomercials) I just had to have it! I didn't want to order it from t.v.( too many bad experiences..I'll explain later)so, instead I checked reviews for it online (Note: it is a good idea to check reviews on products before buying them). After reading so many reviews, I was not convinced to buy the product. I did some more research on YouTube and some people said it worked and many others said it didn't work. I clicked on video that said " Alternative to fast brite", being curious, I opened the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKAshYmrExc and the vlogger mentioned that toothpaste could be used to clean your headlights. After this I amazed and anxious to try this and so I did. This method honestly works...I used Crest toothpaste with whitening, an old rag, and I instantly saw  results. I told by boyfriend and my brother in law about this method, and they were shocked and now use toothpaste to clean their headlights. It's so funny how something so small as toothpaste can have so many uses. I guess the headlight can be seen as a tooth and the toothpaste just removes the plaque buildup :) Has anyone else heard of this method or any other methods to cleaning headlights?
